Grief can carry an invisible weight. Behind a smile, a long workweek, or the familiar words, “I’m fine,” there may be a heart learning how to live with a loss that has changed everything. You are invited to join a community of people who understand that the journey of grief should not have to be walked alone.
A Place for Support, Healing & Hope
Each Monday afternoon, the group will gather to offer compassionate support as participants navigate a new normal without their loved ones. Through conversation, activities, and meaningful practices, the group will explore ways to transform the pain of grief into healing and hope.
There is no expectation that anyone should simply “get over” a loss. Grief does not disappear; it becomes part of our journey. In a caring community, that journey can become a little less lonely.
Pastor Amber Armistead
Group Facilitator
Amber brings both theological preparation and personal experience to this ministry of compassion and healing.
Led by Someone Who Understands
The group is facilitated by Pastor Amber Armistead of Sparta First United Methodist Church. Amber received her Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University, where her thesis focused on normalizing parental grief and developing generative healing practices for grieving hearts.
Amber has experienced profound personal loss, including the death of her twenty-two-month-old son in 2011 and the death of her husband in 2021. Having learned that grief can transform even though it never completely leaves us, she is passionate about creating safe space for healing, honest conversation, and support.
